Singapore Pools And The Elderly

I was at Yew Tee NTUC earlier queuing up to buy TOTO for the first time in my life. What I saw was a super long queue, and more than 50% of the people in the line were old enough to be my grandparents.

Why do they all donate their life savings to Singapore Pools? Shouldn't they use their money for better causes?

I interviewed a few of them, and they told me that they have nothing to do at home, except to watch TV which shows nothing in the day time. They also tell me that they only spend $2 each time they buy 4D or TOTO, but upon further questioning, they admit that they buy 5 times a week. These are the mild gamblers mind you. The "fierce" ones buy $20 each time! That's $100 per week, $400 per month, $5200 per year! OMG!

Singapore Pools should not only disallow those below 18, but also disallow those above 65. They are already old and not earning any money, so why give them an outlet to give away their money needlessly? I mean come on, how many times must you bet before you win something? And even if you do, how much have you already contributed to them? Yes, there might be cases where it is the first time they bought 4D or TOTO and won. But how many cases? 1 in a million?

I wonder if I'll be like these old people, giving my money to Singapore Pools. Somehow, I imagine myself setting up a mahjong house in Singapore, like Hong Kong, and holding a "King Of Mahjong" competition yearly, and I'll be at home counting money. Haha.

Rants

Chocolate fondue anyone? Lolx, my dear bought a mini chocolate fondue set and we tried it out. Was nice in the beginning, but disaster struck when we added sugar into the dark chocolate. The chocolate coagulated, but luckily we managed to salvage it to become this. Hehe, so one point to note guys. Don't use dark bitter chocolate, and don't add sugar!

Ever tried having a steamboat at the beach? Nope, not at a restaurant, but rather with our own steamboat set! Well, this was the crazy idea that Jonathan had, and the few of us agreed. It sure sounded fun, and to be honest, it was nice. The only bad part was that due to the strong wind, the ashes kept on flying out (it was an old fashioned charcoal steamboat set, which they say that old person claims it cooks tastier food), but that was it. The food was good, we had fun playing bridge, and everyone's stomach was full!

A new addition to the Choy family! After having 2 grandsons, my grandmother was soooooooo hoping that she can have a grand daughter. And boy, was she happy when she found out that my auntie was carrying a female baby! Welcome to this family, Charlene Choy Si Min (supposedly Choy See Mun, which is her dialect name).

I'm gonna turn into a zombie that only knows one thing. Assignments, assignments, assignments. It just doesn't seem to end. But I've got no choice since this is the way this school functions. I must do well, and score As! I want my first class honours!
