PROGRESS

Dear Sir/Madam

PROGRESS PACKAGE S84*****/F

1. In Budget 2006, Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lee Hsien Loong announced the Progress Package (Providing Opportunities through Growth, Remaking Singapore for Success) to share part of the government's surpluses with Singaporeans.

2. Based on our records, you are eligible to receive a total of $700.00 for your Progress Package comprising:
- $600.00 of Growth Dividends
- $100.00 of the 40th Anniversary National Service (NS) Bonus

3. To receive your Progress Package, you must sign up at any ... (omitted)

SGD$700.00 for doing absolutely nothing, and for being what I am?

If the government is planning to use the most effective way to win peoples' hearts, which is through money, I guess they have succeeded.

The only problem I foresee is people who feel that they didn't get enough, and complain for more.

Please, people. The government is giving money for free. Please do not complain that they do not give enough, or that you deserve more, or that they have calculated wrongly and owe you more. Let's not be KS for once, shall we?

Saviour + Anger

I'm so glad that I saved someone's life.

OK. It's not THAT serious, but at least I saved the auntie from being injured.

Here's the scenario. I was taking a train 2 days ago to Kovan to meet Dear. Upon entering Jurong Mrt, the train naturally started to brake. This auntie, who looked like she's in her late 50s and early 60s, stood up too early, and lost her balance when the train started to brake. Imagine her bending forward, her hands were both holding her bag which was behind her, and she was moving swiftly towards me while the train was stopping.

Before I could react and grab her, she banged into me, and "headed" me in my stomach. Honestly, it's either she had a very hard skull, or that she was moving too quickly due to the braking of the train. Whatever it is, it hurt quite abit. After asking if she was fine, she then apologised to me before walking away.

What would have happened if I wasn't there?

She would have banged head first into the standing pole. If mild, she might just suffer a slight bruise on her head. If serious, her head would have cracked or bled. She wouldn't have the time to grab the standing pole, because she was facing downwards, not knowing where she is going, and that both her hands were grabbing her bag as though she has lotsa gold in it.

There you have it. My heroics for that day.

I might have to thank the auntie for hitting me in my stomach, for I had a big appetite after that, and ended up eating quite alot of food. As usual hehe.

Number of days left to overseas training: 11 days

I hate overseas training.

Especially when my dear int warrant cannot settle the admin stuff properly. On Thursday last week, he told me that I was to submit my kit bag on Monday. I requested for taking an off day on Friday, as I'm due for AOS duty on Sunday, and I need time to pack. He then assured me that I can send my kit bag on Tuesday.

But due to my procrastinating, I didn't pack my kit bag. As a result, I had to take off on Monday. This time, things got worse. I found out that those flying on the 8th of April, which includes me, will send their kit bag on this Friday, the 31st of March.

My dear int warrant bloody wasted my off! I could have just come home every night to pack my bag, and still be ready by Friday! Argh!

I'm starting to lose respect for him.

And my dear int sergeant. I shall not comment on him. He doesn't deserve a mention.

P.S. Due to the confidentiality of this exercise, I'm not allowed to reveal to you guys the country that I'm going to. It will involve alot of political issues, and we certainly do not want to get killed when we get there. Please understand.

Missing

A few nights back, I was watching "Missing" on Channel 5, where they were talking about this guy who disappeared suddenly on the 28th of Feb 1999, and which till now the police has no clue as to where he is, or whether is he still alive.

I've been contemplating what made him leave. Was he abducted? But if he is, why? Why did the people who abduct him not ask for a ransom from his family? Was he worth alot by selling him to other countries? To me, he looks just like a normal guy to me. So why abduct him?

Did he leave willingly? If he did, why? Did he have financial problems? If he had financial problems, wouldn't he starve to death if he left his family just like that, without having any money? Did he have relationship problems? Or on the contrary, he had a girlfriend and they eloped to another country? But if I'm not wrong, there has been no records of him leaving the country. So did he elope using illegal means?

Was it due to stress in school? But if yes, why leave for 7 years? If it was really due to school work, he could have just dropped out from it, and that's it.

Was it because of family problems? Was there another side to the story? Was he driven away from home? And did his parents regret doing so, and therefore claimed that he was lost, hoping that the police can find him?

Now that it's been more than 7 years since he disappeared, he would lawfully be declared as dead. But of course, his parents do not believe that he's dead, and they believe that he's still somewhere in Singapore.

I can't imagine what will happen to me if any of my friend goes missing suddenly, without any trace. Will I let time heal all wounds? Or will I still be bothered by it even after so many years?

Too many questions unanswered.

Getting Old

I guess I'm getting really old.

In the past, staying up late and not sleeping is not a problem. I could stay up til 3.30am, watch soccer, and then go to school from there. Now? I almost died of fatigue after not having good sleep in 2 nights, while having war gaming. And now, after so many hours of sleep, I still feel so tired!

K Lunch with Dear was fun. I learnt a new song. And $7 for each of us? One word. Cheap.

Guys, from now on, if we go to Sunlight, we'll have 10% of the total bill untill 31st Dec 2006. Not because I bought over Party World, but rather because of SAFRA. As a SAFRA member, I'll get 10% of the total bill every time I visit Party World. The only problem is that I do not know whether will we be able to use the VIP card together with the SAFRA card. If we cannot do so, then I guess we'll have to do some math as to which card allows us to save more.

Geez, I sound cheapo.

Song of the day!

Humble + Maths

It's not good to have an entire gang of friends who sing so well.

Why must we sing those songs that other tables have sang, just to show them how fucked up they are and how good we are?

Why must we make those funny expressions and make idiotic comments on other people's singing when we hear them sing badly?

Do we really need to do all these?

So what if other people sing songs that we've chosen, as a form of "challenge"? If we are really good, and they're fucked up, why bother? Why play along with them? We only make ourselves as idiotic as the rest.

It god damn pisses me off when this happens.

Can't we fucking learn the meaning of "humble"? Do we need to go to dictionary.com to do a search on what it means?

Damn. I hate this man.

Anyway I said I'll post the tougher IQ question up here, and here it is.

It's simliar to the 8 balls one, just that this time we've got 12 balls, and we've got 3 tries. Also, this time we do not know whether the odd ball out is heavier or lighter than the others. At the end of the 3 tries, we have to find out which is the odd ball, and whether it is heavier or lighter than the other 11 balls. It is compulsory to do so.

IQ Maths

2 IQ questions for you guys to think about. I've got 1 more coming, but I'll wait till I solve that before I post it :)

1)
2 blind men went into a shop and each bought 1 pair of white socks and 1 pair of black socks. Each of them, holding 1 pair of socks on each hand, bumped into each other, and dropped all the 4 pairs of socks onto the ground. How can they pick up the socks, so that they will end up taking back 1 pair of white socks and 1 pair of black socks? Be reminded that they cannot see what they are taking.

2)
I have 8 balls, 1 of which is heavier, and the other 7 are all of equal weight. Ialso have a balancing beam, like a see saw. How is it possible for me to pick out the heavier ball in 2 tries by using the balancing beam? Assume that my hands cannot feel any weight, and I have to rely on the beam to tell me which ball is heavier.

Have fun trying, while I go for my guard duty :(

Future

I've been wondering what will happen to my future after I ORD in 5 months time, and I broadly categorised them into a few categories:

Studies
1) Will I get into a local university?
2) If yes, will I be able to get a direct honours?
3) If yes, will I be able to get first class or a second upper?

4) What if I don't get into a local university? Will I get into an overseas university?
5) If yes, will I be able to adapt to their living lifestyle and culture?
6) If no, will my results be affected?
7) If yes, same as Qn 2 and 3

Career
1) Will I be able to have an IT career?
2) If yes, will I survive and succeed?

3) If no, what will my career be? Sales? Businessman? Part-timer in fastfood restaurants? Road sweeper? Toilet cleaner?

Family
1) Will I be able to have a nice family by marrying the woman I love, and having kids with her?
2) If yes, will it last long?
3) If yes, will I be able to maintain the marriage, and provide them their needs and wants?

4) What if I remain a bachelor my whole life?
5) Does that mean my Choy family will have no descendants?
6) Will I stay with my uncle and auntie my whole life?

7) What if I have a family, but not with the woman I love?
8) Will I be happy and satisfied?
9) Will I bear with it and carry on with life?
10) Or will I file for a divorce, and be a bachelor again?

Am I thinking too much?

P.S. Guys, for every visit to this blog, kindly do me this favour by scrolling down on the right, and click on the ad. It will not take you more than 10 seconds of your time, and your help will really be appreciated. Thanks alot.

Adsense

To those who might have noticed, I have an additional google search engine at the top right of my page, and at the bottom, I have a column called "Ads". What is this, you might ask.

It is Google's Adsense.

For every click on the ad, I get a very small amount of money. You might be thinking, why not I constantly do nothing but click on the ad and earn money? Not so easy. Google itself has developed an advanced engine where it can detect accurately whether the clicks are valid or not. It will not sound logical if your site has only 10 visits in 1 day and yet can collect up to 1000 ads referrals right?

One way they calculate is through the page-visited-divided-number-of-clicks ratio. If the ratio goes really high, like in the case of my branch mate Guofeng, they will investigate and probably end up terminating your adsense account. So please do not saboh me by clicking on the ads non-stop.

As for the search engine, it's abit easier. You do a search through the search engine from my site, and what you get are links to ads and the rest are like normal search results. If you click on the ads, and not on the normal search results, I get a very small amount too.

Well, of course, the ads are ads that have very close connection with what you searched for.

Around the world, people are earning thousands a month through this, and I believe that Google are not cheaters. Of course, i'm not aiming to get that kinda money. All I wanna do is just to try out this adsense thing and see how it works.

It's amazing how people can earn money just by surfing the Internet isn't it?
