What do most do after school? They either stay in the library and do research, or they go and work, or they go home and do assignments. Don't you guys have a life? Would it kill to go watch a movie or have dinner together?
Every time I ask whether anybody wants to go for dinner together, the responses I get are "I've eaten", "I'm not hungry", "My mom cooked", "My maid cooked", "My whoever cooked" etc.
And never in my life did I find trying to get my classmates to go out together so tough. In secondary school, no problem. In poly, even no problem. Here, MANY problems.
In contrast, my girlfriend's class is so damn happening. They go out and have fun, shop around, dine, play some sports, watch movie, and now even going genting together.
Don't tell me that we computing students are different from them, who're mass comm students. We're all humans, and we all function the same. We all need to eat, sleep, shit, study, relax, and whatever. So why must we computing students go home after school and bury our heads in library books or wikipedia while they go out?
Probably it's just me. I'm a very outgoing person, and one who cannot sit in front of a laptop and do his assignments constantly. In fact, I don't even study, and that's why I look slacker than the rest of my classmates.
. . .
Not only that, I don't even know some of my classmates' names, and I bet not all know me too! This is disastrous! We're supposed to spend 3 years of our SIM lives together, and I don't even know your name!?
Can you guys believe it? My running nose is so "running", that I actually used up an entire roll of toilet paper? I don't even use that much when I shit!
It makes me feel sleepy. Maybe it's because I keep on having to blow my nose and thus no oxygen in my brain! But amazingly, I cannot sleep!
And now, at this very moment, I am going to sleep. I haven't slept the entire night because all I do is cough, sneeze, blow my nose into toilet rolls, and try to sleep unsuccessfully.
Maybe it has got to do with the sickening air quality recently. I mean, so many people I know fall sick on the same night? Me, Kev, Dear, Andy? (And it's amazing how we 4 sick people can play mahjong until 5am haha)
I suggest that everyone drink hell lots of fluid. OK, water. Not soft drinks.
I WANT TO SLEEP! Somebody give me 1000 sleeping pills man!
After playing mahjong with so many of them for so long, I've compiled a list of some weird habits that each has when they play.
Andy: 1. Whack the cards on the wooden border 2. Say "Got so nice cards mah" 3. Say "Like that also can let me take" 4. Say "I want to 'Di Hu'" 5. Say "Give him lor" when someone games
Sheena: 1. Say "Wah lau, flower again" when she wants to 'ping hu' but fails to do so 2. Put her arm on the table and lie on it 3. Say "Tai tai tai tai tai" when she gets her own flower or an animal
Dear: 1. Say "Fuck lah", and points the middle finger/smack her forehead when she gets a flower or an animal when she is waiting for 'ping hu' 2. Say "Eh" to signify a victory 3. Gets confused with cards that have too many combinations
Kevin: 1. Say "Swee" when he gets a good card (wonder if it's true) 2. Say "You never sms me" when I ask him to throw me a card 3. Say whatever rubbish I say
Jie Fang: 1. Not saying "pong" when she pongs 2. Likes to do many patterns that can win big, but end up getting confused herself
Cindy: 1. Says alot of things that I can't possibly list out. Like: "Yeah! my flower" when she gets her own flower "Yeah! Mao Mao" when she gets the cat "Yeah! Shu Shu" when she gets the rat "Yeah! Ya Kang" when she gets the scorpion "Yeah! Kok Kok Keh" when she gets the chicken "Huh, why you take my flower" when someone takes her flower "Huh, why you take my animal" when someone takes her animal "Huh, why you kar my flower" when someone takes both her flowers "Huh, my kang" when someone throws the 4th card of something that she pong . . . . . 2. Breathes deeply whenever anybody eats or pongs 3. Scares herself by thinking that the card she's going to throw next is dangerous, and yet it is not
In case you guys haven't heard of it, the Football League has set up a working party to consider ditching the ideas of having draws in a game, and instead settle for penalty shootout.
They're crazy.
Getting a draw is worth 1 point. That is enough. Why have another penalty shootout to earn an extra 1 point?
This way, visiting teams going to Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge will aim to get a draw, get to the penalty shootout, and hope to win it to earn an extra point. This is ridiculous.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Leave the game alone. Otherwise, it'll only become a turn off and make people not watch the game.
Someone sent me this clip over my email, and I feel that I should upload it to youtube and show you guys. It's damn cute, especially the dog! The monkey is clever too!
Met up with my old gang of friends last friday at KBox Chinatown for Vinson's farewell, for he's leaving for australia on sunday. Eugene, Tony, Sam, Vinson, William, Eddie, Ken. It's so nice to see all of them again. My 3 years in poly were so fun and happening all because of these people. Honestly, I missed them man!
Nothing much really happening during the KTV, just that everyone was catching up with one another on what's been happening in their lives recently. Eugene's working, Tony's studying and working at the same time, Sam's working, Vinson's going to australia for holiday, coming back again and then going back again, Ken's going to graduate soon, William's working and going to go for workshop on AutoCAD, Eddie's working.
The highlight of the KTV was our mr big nose Tony who sang some cock english songs that made us laugh like xuete. The following videos might look boring or poorly shot, but it's damn funny if you were in the room with us.
Suddenly for the first time in so many years, my weekend is spent alone. Not with friends, nor with my dear.
I feel so bored.
Maybe it's because I'm too used to meeting up with them on weekends, that suddenly I find myself with nothing to do at home. Even with so many assignments due next week, I'm too lazy to touch it.
Sunday was my eldest cousin, Melvin's wedding. We reached his place at about 9.30am to watch them serve tea to the elderly.
P.S. All these were taken with my 3.2 mega pixel N73
The couple coming into the house and shaking hands with almost everyone. This one is snapped when they greeted my ah ma, who's not in the picture.
Ah, there she is!
First up, the mother and father of the groom. My "da gu" and "da gu zhang".
My "da gu", being the emotional person she is, broke down after drinking the tea, so much so that she couldn't unbuckle the bracelet she prepared for the bride, and required lots of people to help out before the bride could wear it.
I wonder how my ah ma felt after drinking the tea from the eldest grandchild. I bet she felt super happy to see this day, and can't wait to have a great grandchild!
My eldest uncle just refused to sit on the chair, which what reasons I'm not sure. It took all my relatives approximately 5 minutes before he decided to sit down, and within 10 seconds, he stood up and took the tea from the newlyweds. Lolx.
Second uncle, Johnny Chua and wife.
Third uncle, Sunny Chua and wife.
Fourth uncle, Sammy Chua. Wife and daughters at home sleeping I assume. Lolx.
My uncle, Tommy Chua and my auntie Rachel.
Next up, the daughters. My second auntie Nancy Chua and husband.
Last one, Molly Chua. Husband working overseas.
Finally the both of them can sit down and rest their legs. Here, the 2 younger sisters of the groom will now have to serve tea to both of them.
This is Germaine.
This is the younger one, called Elana, whom we all call affectionately call Nana. Wonder what the bride is laughing at.
Wai Sum must have felt damn happy when she heard them greet her "da sao"
Time now for family photos!
Cheeky me.
At this point of time, after Max shot the photo for me, my phone hang! So I missed out on "er gu" and family. Oopsie.
Next up is the dinner. It's held at Rasa Sentosa Resort. Even though the view is very nice, the place is pretty, the venue is just abit out of the way. I had to drive them to the resort, then drive another 5 minutes back to the beach car park, park the car there, and then take a shuttle bus back to the hotel. Weird that such a huge resort has such a small car park. Sigh.
My auntie, my grandmother, and my dear.
Samantha Chua, daughter of my fourth uncle, with my auntie.
Max, with an atittude face, while taking care of ah ma. Haha.
From left: Shirley (4th uncle's wife), Esther (eldest uncle's daughter), a mysterious pair of hands, Rachel, and err.. a relative
Our table number
Interesting?
Waiting for dinner to be served
Caption says it all. Me, Max, and chao recruit Ben
11 prawns in all
Newlyweds giving a speech. Melvin's speech was especially touching, that "da gu" cried again. Both of them thanked their parents for bringing them up, and raising them to who they are today
My "da gu" with the bouquet she received from the groom
My grandmother at the man made waterfall before leaving. The colour makes it look eerie
I look good don't I?
Too bad, all good things come to an end. I had to return the car to the rental company. No more driving. FOR NOW.
FINALLY IT'S THE END OF THE MOCK EXAMS, AND END OF ASSIGNMENT 3. JUST 3 MORE ASSIGNMENTS TO GO, DUE ON THE 28TH OF MARCH! JIAYOU!
WANTED TO JIO PEOPLE TO GO FOR KTV, BUT ENDED UP MOST OF THEM WERE EITHER TOO TIRED OR HAD TO WORK, AND AS A RESULT I HAD TO USE MY PSYCHO-ING SKILLS TO THE MAX TO LURE ALVIN AND RICK TO GO. I TOLD THEM THAT FOR THEIR 4 HOURS KTV SESSION WITH ME, I'LL MAKE IT UP WITH 4 HOURS OF MY TIME HELPING THEM WITH THEIR ASSIGNMENT 3, WHICH THEY HAVEN'T FINISH! ALVIN INITIALLY DIDN'T BUYT IT, AND I HAD TO HELP HIM ON THE SPOT, WHICH I MANAGED TO FINISH, BEFORE HE IS CONVINCED.
CLAIRE, WHO INITIALLY SAID OK TO THE KTV SESSION, BACKED OUT AT THE LAST MINUTE DUE TO HER FATHER NOT ALLOWING HER TO STAY OUT TOO LATE, AND AS A RESULT ONLY THE 3 OF US, PLUS EDWARD, WENT FOR THE KTV. IT WAS QUITE OK I THOUGHT, JUST THAT I WAS VERY OFF FORM TODAY. LOL.
NOW THAT THE MOCK EXAMS ARE OVER, IT'S TIME FOR ASSIGNMENT 4, UOL WORKSHOPS, LOCAL WORKSHOPS, AND THE DREADED FINAL YEAR EXAMS. IT SEEMS LIKE YESTERDAY SINCE I FIRST JOINED SIM, WHICH I REGRET DEEPLY. BUT NOW THAT I'M IN HERE, I CAN'T DO ANYTHING BUT FINISH IT. I CAN'T QUIT NOW AND WASTE THE MONEY, AND MOREOVER I NEED THAT PIECE OF PAPER THAT SAYS "BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMPUTING AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (HONOURS)".
I FEEL THAT PEOPLE SHOULDN'T COME TO SIM AND TAKE MY COURSE. EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE 2 OUTSTANDING TEACHERS IN SYED AND MS MOCK, WE HAVE 2 EQUALLY USELESS TEACHERS IN ABEL AND ANTHONY LEE. NOT ONLY THAT, THE COURSE MATERIALS ARE SO OUTDATED, AND YET THE UOL SIDE CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO UPDATE IT.
IF ONLY ALL MY LECTURERS WERE LIKE SYED OR MS MOCK ... HEAVEN
DON'T SCOLD ME, AND DON'T ASK ME WHY. I SUDDENLY FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS FONT. HOW I WISH MY ASSIGNMENT CAN BE SUBMITTED WITH THIS FONT HAHA
P.S. IF THE FONTS LOOK LIKE TIMES NEW ROMAN AND FREAKING UGLY TO YOU, THAT'S BECAUSE YOU HAVEN'T INSTALLED THE FONTS YET, AS THIS IS A VISTA FONT. DOWNLOAD THIS FILE, AND UNZIP THE CONTENTS TO YOUR WINDOWS/FONT FOLDER. AND DONE!
